The dear good old brown coal. We still need them somehow. Where harvesting on the surface is easy going, or underground is too risky (as in Hambach), huge holes are dug into the ground.

A visit to the many viewpoints is always interesting. You get the impression that you are standing in front of a huge playground of big kids who love diggers.

The visit at night is also recommended.
